The Pearland ISD Council of PTAs was organized on November 7, 1977 to provide Pearland Independent School District local PTAs with the information necessary to fulfill their roles in our community. We currently serve 19 local PTAs.
We support, unify, and strengthen the Pearland ISD local PTA units by exchanging ideas through fundraising opportunities, leadership training, scholarships, awards, etc.
We promote both National PTA and Texas PTA by providing information about National and Texas PTA publications, grants, and programs and encouraging attendance at State and National Conventions.
We also support the objectives of the Texas PTA and National PTA.

PTA’s Vision: Every child’s potential is a reality.
PTA’s Mission: To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
PTA’s Purpose:
To promote the welfare of children and youth in homes, schools, places of worship, and throughout the community;
To raise the standards of home life;
To advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;
To promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth;
To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth;
To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.
Texas PTA: As a constituent of National PTA, Texas PTA is authorized to determine the procedures for the organization and “good standing” requirements for PTAs in Texas.
Texas PTA Board of Directors: A fifteen (15) member board of directors governs the association. Officers include the President, President-Elect, Vice President Field Service, Vice President Leadership, Vice President Membership, Vice President Programs and Resources, Secretary, and Treasurer. Additionally, seven Directors-at-Large, four elected and three appointed by the President, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, serve as members.
Texas PTA State Office: Led by the Executive Director, staff members make up the Executive, Member Services, Finance, Programs, and Communications Departments.
National PTA and Texas PTA have robust websites full of resources for training, leadership, program, and advocacy.
School districts have a choice when it comes to parent groups for their campuses. As such, Council PTAs should always be prepared to explain why PTA is the right choice. The main components of PTA are
parent education;
family engagement, and
advocacy.
Maybe most important, being PTA means being supported in running a small, tax-exempt legal entity. Council PTA Leaders are the first line of support for Local PTAs. Field Service Representatives are next, then the Texas PTA Board of Directors, and the Texas PTA State Office staff comes after that. With that support, no PTA Leader should ever feel alone.
